Data Base Administration |
| Definition |
A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, availability, integrity and security of a database. Additional role requirements are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting. |
| Key responsibilities |
- Installation, configuration and upgrading of MYSQL (DB2/Oracle) database server software and related products
- Evaluate MYSQL (DB2/Oracle) features and MYSQL (DB2/Oracle) related products
- Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
- Establish High availability by Replication/Clustering
- Take care of the Database design and implementation
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) and integrity
- Data migration between various databases and across the platform
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
- Perform application tuning and performance monitoring
- Setup and maintain documentation and standards
- Building data warehouse.
- Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
- Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required
- Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
- Patch Management and Version Control

| MUST HAVE: |
|
WORK EXPERIENCE
|
- Experience in DBA MySQL is a must.
- Knowledge in DB2 / Oracle will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience with MySQL (DB2/ORACLE) database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Managing large scale database system.
- Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
- Hands on experience in MySQL database replication, Clustering and high availability.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
|
- DATABASE : MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
- SCRIPTING : Perl, PHP, Stored procedures, Shell scripts
Strong knowledge in structured query language (SQL) and query optimization
